‘We simply know pumps better’

Ultraflow Hot Water Circulation Pumps & Pumping Systems

Ultraflow circulator pumps have been installed in vast range domestic and commercial applications and are commonly used for circulating hot or cold water around pipework system. Hot water applications include hot water re-circulation to ensure hot water is always available at the furthermost point of the pipework, circulating hot water in solar applications, pumping hot water around withing underfloor heating reticulation and circulation of hot water from boilers in food processing and commercial buildings. Ultraflow recirculating pumps have been proven to be quality and reliable in the industry for many years.

Ultraflow also offer prepackaged and pre-assembled circulator systems and accessories. General Pump Company manufactures a range of twin pump systems complete with pumps, controller, wiring, pipework and valves, all mounted on a base. The pumps and systems are available with a range of controller options and importantly are available pre-mounted within an enclosure for outdoor areas exposed to weather conditions or vandalism.

Municipal supplies

Historically, for municipal (town) water supply, chlorine and other chemicals are used to control the reproduction of microorganisms and bacteria. However, there is a growing trend to consider other chemical free options. Some municipal bodies around the world are replacing chemical dosing plants in favour of UV sterilisation.

Benefits

UV sterilisation produces no toxic chemical by-products. It’s an entirely physical, chemical free process.

Applications for Ultraviolet Sterilisation and Filter Systems

The following are examples of applications ideal for UV sterilisation:

  • tank and storage vessels
  • cooling towers and
  • untreated water supplies

Each of these have the risk of microorganisms and bacteria being cultured within. As a result, these water supplies can become breeding grounds for Giardia and Cryptosporidium water borne diseases. These diseases can be common in untreated (but potable) water supplies and lead to painful and recurrent gastrointestinal affliction.

Leading brands with GPC

In the field of quality filtration and disinfection systems, General Pump Company provides a range of solutions as listed below.

Puretec Hybrid Systems provide safe and purified water at every tap. Designed for both mains and rainwater supply, this filter system is highly effective in eliminating 99.9% bacteria and parasites resident in water. The Hybrid Systems also reduces bad taste, odour, chemicals and sediment giving good general purpose filtration. In brief they are:

  • a high performing product
  • useable for rain & mains water supply
  • have a three year warranty and
  • watermark certified (license no. VM 74593)

Southland Filtration provide high quality filtration and disinfection systems for use in treatment of harvested rainwater, backed with years of industry experience.

The Southland Filtration offers a 3 Stage Rainwater Treatment systems which provide simple, fast and economical filtration as detailed below:

  • Stage 1: Removes any suspended particles in the water supply down to 100 microns. Particles are trapped and retained by the stainless steel screen and automatically flushed to drain
  • Stage 2: Removes suspended particles down to the rated micron level of the filter bag, and is used as a pre-filter to ultra-violet disinfection, or to give higher level protection and
  • Stage 3: Removes any harmful microorganisms by UV disinfection in the water supply, enhancing overall water safety

Each system incorporates a quality pumping system, which ensures premium delivery of water through to service. There is an option of skid mounted systems or weather proof enclosures.

Healthshield Ultraviolet Disinfection Systems are:

Specially designed and tested, utilising Sterilume™ – Ex UV Lamps that provide consistent and reliable ultraviolet output over the entire life of the lamp to ensure continuous purification.

Built with a durable stainless steel chamber to prolong life and eliminate ultraviolet light degradation.

The controller visually displays the remaining lamp life and will go into alarm if the lamp fails and has a sealed case to prevent damage from accidental water intrusion and is fully CSA and CE Compliant.

The JUDO JSY Series provides a range of backwash filters with manual or fully automatic screen cleaning by timer control of 24 hr, weekly, monthly, and Bi monthly. Efficient screen cleaning with rotating arms. Standard 100 micron stainless steel screen. No interruption to water flow during screen cleaning. Can be mounted in vertical or horizontal pipe runs. Relies on pressure not flow for backwash. Degree of dirt build up can be easily seen through the viewing glass.

German designed and manufactured JUDO backwash filters are quality guaranteed. They offer:

  • A compact design
  • Minimum installation disruption
  • Automatic or Manual Operation
  • A range of options to suit the site and budget

Does the UV sterilisation process require a water filter?

You may well ask if ultraviolet sterilisation needs a water filter to go with it? The answer is yes. Ultra-violet Sterilisation must be used in conjunction with a Water Filter.

The water filter acts to stop dirt, grit and sediment from getting into the UV chamber. If these materials get into the chamber they may cause a build-up on the quartz sleeve. What does this mean? This build up causes a barrier to the UV light potentially rendering the system ineffective. A 5 micron filter for sediment control is recommended (normally just one is needed) – you would only opt for a twin system (using a sediment and carbon combination) if you had taste and odour issues in the water, or concerns of chemicals in the water.
