‘We simply know pumps better’
Australian is the driest continent on earth, which is why we are a strong and growing force behind the rainwater harvesting movement. Are you thinking of going the rainwater harvesting way?
Even when mains or reticulated water supplies are available, today more and more people are opting to use rainwater for all their water needs. This rainwater is collected from the roof and stored in tanks. Some people use their rainwater for a select range of uses and rely on the mains for others. For most new housing developments there is a mandatory requirement to install a rainwater tank.
General Pump Company offers a range of rainwater pumps, pumping systems and associated treatment equipment for you as a home or commercial property owner.
We provide an array of pumps and systems to meet your rainwater reuse needs whether for a small single home or granny flat or a very large commercial building, high rise apartment block or public amenity.
Our home-brand, Ultraflow, brings you the following quality products:
When it comes to your water harvesting or re-use needs, General Pump Company promotes a variety of other quality products including:

Typically a system for a single storey dwelling includes a surface mounted pressure pump which is located adjacent to a rainwater tank or a submersible pump mounted inside the tank, and a pressure controller which switches the pump on and off automatically. It will also have a changeover device which switches between rainwater and mains water, depending on what water is available at the time.
Davey’s RainBank is one product that can deliver significant savings to your water bill by providing a supply of rainwater harvested for your toilet flushing, laundry or other non-potable needs. Harvested rainwater is utilise before mains water by an automatic control system with the system switching to mains when the rainwater bank (or tank) is empty or there is no power to the system.
Onga WaterSwitch is an automatic rainwater controller. WaterSwitch provides the best possible solution for urban rainwater harvesting as it provides automatic selection between rainwater from a tank and water from mains.
A seamless supply of water (tank or mains) is delivered to household demands such as toilet cistern filling, washing machines, garden watering and car washing and the solenoid valve prevents mixing of mains and tank water so genuine water savings are achieved.
Larger systems, such as dual surface mounted pump units or dual submersible pumps controlled by fixed speed or variable speed controllers, are installed in conjunction with rainwater tanks and supply rainwater to toilets (WCs) in the building and irrigation to landscaped areas outdoors, or whatever other commercial needs you may have.

The ingenious Acquasaver rain to mains changeover valve is a clever Australian innovation, designed and assembled in Australia! By using water pressure from the mains water supply and/or the rainwater pump, the valve can automatically allow water from the rainwater reuse pump to flow through to the house or garden whenever there is rainwater available. In the event the rainwater is depleted in the rainwater tank, the Acquasaver will then allow mains water to flow through. An Acquasaver valve does not require an electrical power supply, as it operates hydraulically. Acquasaver valves are manufactured with brass & stainless steel components and they are available 20mm or 25mm connections. These reliable valves come with a 5 Year Warranty!
Most rural communities in Australia have rainwater as the only supply of water. Hence for decades rainwater has been harvested as a source of water for drinking, cooking, bathing, laundry, toilet flushing through to watering the garden. Many other communities around the world have relied on rainwater as well. We have a long and successful history of water harvesting behind us.
Some Australian States have introduced legislation mandating new standards of energy and water efficiency ratings that must be incorporated into new dwellings. Local administrators have also introduced guidelines for safe water usage systems.
Rebates may be available from Australian, state, territory and local governments. Go to www.yourenergysavings.gov.au for further information or your local council to find out if they offer rebates. The rebate amount usually depends on the tank volume and the types of household uses.
