‘We simply know pumps better’
Helical rotor pumps, also called progressive cavity pumps or cavity pumps, are a type of rotary positive displacement pump. They have a single-threaded helically-shaped rotor turning inside a double-threaded helically-shaped rubber stator.
They are typically used to transfer fluids with a wide viscosity range including slurries, are self-priming and can have run dry capabilities. They are very good at pumping sludges.
A positive displacement pump makes a fluid move by trapping a fixed amount and forcing (displacing) the contained volume into the discharge pipe. Some positive displacement pumps use an expanding cavity on the suction side and a decreasing cavity on the discharge side. They are also known as progressive cavity pumps.
Helical Rotor Pumps are a type of positive displacement pump with a single-threaded, helically-shaped rotor which turns inside a double-threaded, helically-shaped rubber stator. This action creates a progressing cavity which moves liquid through the pump, creating a pumping action. They are often referred to as progressive cavity pumps or cavity pumps. They require little maintenance and are easy to clean.
With access to over 240 local and international pump manufacturers, and our own brand UltraFlow, General Pump Company has the range and expertise to help you source and, if needed, identify the right mechanical diaphragm pump and equipment for your needs.
The history of helical rotor pumps reflects their evolution from a specialized solution for the oil industry to a widely used pumping technology across various sectors, driven by continuous innovation and adaptation to meet the needs of diverse applications.
These pumps are used in:
Helical Rotor Pumps are able to pump a variety of thin and thick liquids, including pumping difficult, solid-laden or corrosive liquids in all types of industrial applications. For this reason they are often used in applications where no other pump would be suitable.
They are also used extensively in sewerage and water treatment plants to pump sludge and chemicals.
